Q:
How does the frame stay on the patient?
A: The Lone Star Retractor System is a self-retaining
retractor system. The retractor ring is placed over the sterile-draped
incision or surgical site and the first four elastic stays are inserted
into the tissue's edge in directly opposing quadrants, using equal
tension. The counter-traction of the elastic stays stabilizes the
retractor ring for the remainder of surgery so that no additional
mechanical support is needed.
