The
Inguinal Reservoir Inserter (IRI) is a custom made surgical instrument
that enables the urologist to implant the reservoir of the inflatable
penile prosthesis into the prevesical space adjacent to the bladder
using the scrotal approach.
The
IRI consists of two parts: the carrier and the inserter. This tool
minimizes dilation of the external inguinal ring and protects the
reservoir during passage.
The
inserter has a smooth, polished beveled end that allows gradualdilation
of the inguinal canal and safe passage of reservoir.
The distal tip of the carrier cups the junction of the reservoir,
while the proximal end of the carrier is designed to efficiently
occlude the reservoir tubing after the reservoir is evacuated of
air or fluid.
